JACKSONVILLE. Fla. - The Coast Guard is searching for two overdue fishermen off the coast of Port Canaveral. Fla. Charles Shaver. 44 and Derrick Demers both of Indian Harbor Beach. Fla. departed Thursday at 9 a m on the 32-foot to go fishing approximately 20-miles east of Port Canaveral. They were reported overdue to the Coast Guard by a business partner Saturday evening when they didn’t return as expected. A helicopter from Air Station Clearwater. Fla. has searched for the two men and the Coast Guard Cutter from Port Canaveral is preparing to begin searching. Please call the Sector Jacksonville Command Center if you have any additional information on the two men’s whereabouts at (904) 564-7511. The Harvester is based out of Port Canaveral and has a maroon hull with a white cabin. LOS ANGELES - This week federal and local law enforcement agencies will be working in a combined effort to alter Southern California waters safer and alter agency interoperability. Officers from the U. S. glide Guard. Customs and adjoin Protection. L. A. County Sheriff’s Department. Orange County Sheriff’s Department. L. A. Port Police. LAPD and Long land Police will be taking part in the glide Guard operation. “The cerebrate is on port security and public safety. We’ll have people in the air on the water and even under the water,” said Coast Guard spokesman Lt j g. Andrew Muñoz. The joint agency operation is a culmination of months of planning. Coordinated efforts such as these are becoming a regular occurrence according to Muñoz. “Being able to capitalize on the expertise and diverse resources of the different agencies in the area has been instrumental in making our ports and coastal waters safer and more secure,” said Coast follow head Paul Wiedenhoeft. Wiedenhoeft is the Commander of Coast follow Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach. He is responsible for port safety and security as the Captain of the Port and Federal Maritime Security Coordinator for 320 miles of coastline from Orange County to San Luis Obispo County. “Whether it’s the L. PHILADELPHIA - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the U. S. glide sponsored a successful port security apply today in the turn of Philadelphia to evaluate preparedness prevention and the ability to act to a terrorist-related incident. The apply featured participation from the tri-state (Delaware. New Jersey. Pennsylvania) port community including public and government agencies and private industry. The goal of this exercise was to alter the connectivity of maritime and ascend transportation modes and compound current port stakeholder security plans. Scenarios ranged from how officials and industry react to an explosion on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to additional suspicious terrorist-related activity around the port. “PortSTEP is designed to acquire maritime and surface transportation security communities throughout the U. S via a suite of training exercises evaluations and accompanying information technology products,” said Noreen Brown. TSA’s PortSTEP Project Officer. “Today’s exercises have proved to be invaluable as we bring home the bacon to balance freedom of commerce and protection of our nation’s transportation system.” Over 30 agencies totaling to over 200 participants joined in today’s exercise. In addition to TSA and the U. S. glide follow other key players include the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Department of Homeland Security; emergency preparedness and law enforcement from the states of Delaware. New Jersey and Pennsylvania; Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA); and the major regional railroads and refineries. As a sponsor of the exercise the glide Guard fulfilled its role as Federal Maritime Security Coordinator by overseeing the implementation of the Area Maritime Security Plan which is move of a family of safety and security plans under the National Maritime Transportation Security Plan.
