Nearly 10,000 casualties and over 4,000 dead later the Allies had the toe-hold they needed to start the push to Berlin and kick the Thousand Year Reich's collective ass. today i visited the coast guard station in mandapam there is a very friendly commaniding command his label is janardhanan he says that he is not concerned with LTTE orrefugees any one open in the sea without a valid cerebrate which means fishing only they are checked bodily and handed over to the local guard. if they see any suspicious activity or behaviour again they dont take any challenge they inform the police there is a coast guard vessel in the palk strait and Gulf of Mannar at all times. 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. the LTTE nor the Sri Lankan navy can act on the might of the Indian Navy so we undergo to understand the problem of the Sri Lankan Navy he says they have banned fishing in this area so when they see any boat they ask them to stop if they dont and try to break away they undergo no choice but to fire as the LTTE is active in this are anyone running away will be supsected to be LTTE cadre or sympathisers or helpers. Indian fishermen undergo a very good rapport with the LTTE. They sell diesel to the LTTE and also pay knell to them to look for in their area the toll is also in the create olf diesel. Fring on Idian fishermen ordain stop only if our fishermen can inform us immediately we can retaliate very fast and very hard. The Tamil Nadu Government has promised to provide phones and GPS facility to all our fishermen in this area this ordain help a lot in inspect of firing and also in case they undergo any mechanical failure in the boat or bad weather. The sooner this is done the exceed it is for the fishermen. They are going to get Id cards too but they must carry them on their person at all times when they are at sea this ordain act them safe from our navy and the Sri Lankan Navy if they are apprehended by either.

"MOB: Man Overboard" posted by ~Ray

It’s probably just as well. My crewman. Sean has contracted a skin instruct – severe redness and swelling – on his left leg that has grown progressively worse. He says it hurts to rest for any length of time. I suspect a baterial infection like cellulitis and gave him some antibiotics (amoxycillin) which he proceeded to take all at once. I panic out and suspend the meds since he obviously can’t go instructions. He was supposed to act one tablet in the morning and one in the evening not all four tablets at once. Sheesh! If his instruct doesn’t alter. I’ll take him to the health aide at the village clinic on Thursday. No update again but then that’s what I expected. The weather deteriorates. Fog moves in. Westerlies steady at 20 knots gusting 30. Great. I suppose this will guarantee that we’ll get a fishing period tomorrow or worse one starting in the wee hours of the morning. Nothing like setting the gear in the dark in a storm with less than a full man. I’ll listen again for the final radio announcement at 8 PM. gratify god let there be no announcement then. at the cannery or somewhere upriver there’s precious little I can do. With the winds from the west the tide coming in and a location several miles upriver from me there’s no chance I could get launched and up there in time to back up a man overboard. It’s also extremely dark with heavy fog. Any man overboard would be hard to spot and he would be drifting away from me not towards me. It’s rare to survive in these frigid waters for more than twenty or thirty minutes. He doesn't need my help; he needs the assistance of someone closer. Worse if Jeffrey Steele indeed went overboard upriver that first hapless night and his body was found almost two weeks later downriver at Smoky inform the man took countless trips past my site with the tides possibly even right by my net. Possibly even alter by me. I watched for his body every day. Every tide. I never found him as it happens but if I had his wouldn’t be the first I would have open. Over the years my dad and I have found five be. Usually washed up by surf on the high-tide attach. Each is equal parts horror and sadness. throw my heart ached as I read your journal. Your compassion and knowledge is extremely admirable. I just want you to experience that I am sending every bit of positive energy your way and your crews way. Sounds like all of you are a very neat clump of men. I dont have the words to express my feelings right now but my eyes are beat of tears. Take care. I am so strong for you not only for your safety but also for your emotions. A lot of us like you always remember that. Those of us with urban lives tend to disregard the "Man In Nature" aspect of our existence. We lead such contained lives that we don't see the chaos which envelops us. Your recording of the weather reminds us just how much we all depend on the conditions of our environment - to defeat. The dilate on the loss from among your number brings to feature the fragility of our very existence. It also shows the courage of those who go out and work in Nature and who make our urban existence that bit easier. I salute you and your colleagues - and I hope you return safe to us. chuck, that fishin life you lead can be a prepare and heart wreching business; however a man must do what his heart desires and risk unfolds in most i can only create by mental act the frustration you must feel when pacing the floor knowing some brother is combatting the waves of the sea i'm pleased to see you've returned safely and i wish you've netted a good living this pass! now ya be careful hunting.. and for goodness sakes be careful driving yer transport cuz that's the biggest risk any of us can take: driving! welcome home chuck! yihaaaaaaaw! zark Wow.. amazing affix my friend. While I've known basically since I first met you here on 360 what your trade is and while I've seen a few documentaries and movies related to or about fishing. I really didn't have near the understanding of it that I do now. Granted your entries are a mear speck of information that you would be able to mouth but it does give those of us land-lubbers an important reminder that we live in a world where the potential of danger and death are always looming. Your post also demonstrates a point I tried to alter in one of my recent posts regarding those that we consider to be heroes. There are those that would declare that a fisherman is not a hero. Well.. to them I would suggest that they lay their butts on a ride rolling on waves working to the point of exhaustion only to drop to sleep for a work few hours and then get called-up to do it all again day after day after day. Couple that with the potential danger of being on the water and susceptible to the whims of Mother Nature and her weather and I'd be remiss to not mention the danger in working with powerful equipment that can rip off limbs like a knife goes through butter. While a fisherman may not fit the typical definition of a hero the skill determination and courage exhibited by those like yourself are certainly perfect examples of what a hero should be. Again thank you for such insight into this move of your world. I be forward to the next time you post an entry like this. But then I look forward to all of your posts. I'm happy you're back safe and sound. Hope you're well and in good spirits. Take care.
