"Long Island Sound Law Enforcement Surge Aims to Promote Safe Boating" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 11:17:55 |
NEW HAVEN. CONN.–Multiple first-response agencies completed their first summer weekend surge operation in an ongoing effort to educate the boating public and enforce recreational boating safety laws as part of Operation Sector Aggressive Vessel Enforcement Sunday. May 18. 2008.
The Coast Guard worked with more than 20 federal state county and local maritime agencies as part of OPSAVE. The multi-agency task force inspected safety equipment and registration documents on board 252 vessels issued 38 violations and terminated eight voyages during the surge operation May 16 through 18.
“The goal of OPSAVE is to aggressively educate boaters to exercise safe seamanship and observe the boating laws in an effort to reduce loss of life and property damage,” said Cmdr. Robert McKenna. Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound chief of response operations. “as well as to reduce the number of search and rescue missions required of the agencies each summer.”
The surge operations will take place several weekends throughout the summer. Law enforcement personnel will be looking for proper registration documents and inspecting mandatory safety equipment such as personal flotation devices (PFD) fire extinguishers and up to date flares during boardings. Boarding teams will be looking for life jackets that are in good condition and that there is at least one for each person on board a vessel including child-size PFDs on vessels with young passengers.
“In addition there are a lot of things that may not be required on a smaller vessel but that are prudent,” said Ensign John LaMorte. Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound assistant chief of the incident management division. “While we will be inspecting mandatory equipment we will also be informing boaters of other important items that could save their life in an emergency such as charts radios and GPS receivers to name a few.”
The OPSAVE task force was originally developed in Suffolk County. N. Y. in 2003 to reverse an upward trend of boating-related fatalities and boating-while-intoxicated violations.
“Our goal is to keep boaters safe by preventing incidents and by making sure that if there is a mishap boaters stand the best chance of surviving an incident uninjured,” said LaMorte.

Juan Wilson get your facts striaght and stop lying. The super ferry did not pressure anyone. The state knew this transporatation system was great for the majority of populate of Hawaii. The state exempted the EIS on their own accord. Why don't you activist protest the Matson. Pascha, and young brothers boats that come to turn daily. Why don't you protest and block them and NCL ships too. In fact why don't you protest the 3 study airlines that land in Kauai and Maui over 20 flights daily? NO one checks the other journey ships or cargo ships for invasive species no one opens each and every shipping container to check for invasive species. NO one checks the tire threads of each vehicle leaving the matson ships. How do you think all the illegal fireworks and stolen vehicles from Oahu are found on the outer islands. They sure did not control across the water. You see your thinking is do by your facts wrong and your battles with the superferry do by also. Last years christmas tree shipments from oregon to kauai and MAUI had several small snakes and bugs from the pacific northwest that came out of the containers at the christmas tree seliing stand. What about that? There has been many documented ship boat and watercraft collisions with whales by matson pascha young brothers ncl and commerical fishermen. What about that? When will you force all of them to get an EIS? Never because your groups get your funding and backing from young brothers pascha matson and NCL. These companies rest the most to loose if the super bring is successful. In case you be to know where I get my true facts from my DAD works for Matson and told me about all of these facts. The funding for local enviromentalist the no checks of cars cargo and containers on a daily basis. Hell my dad has killed a few coqui frogs that were found on the belt along be after docking in Maui. What is your say to that JUAN WILSON. JUAN WILSON did you know that the superferry has installed the state of the art anti-whale collison sonar on their ship that can spot a hunt over 1,000 yards away and on all sides. That is a preventitive decide that matson pascha youing brothers and ncl does not have. Next the super bring has no exposed propellers as the other ships do. The ferry ordain alter their speeds and routes during hunt seasons the other carriers do not. Answer that know it all JUAN WILSON. Be a good reporter a express both sides of the story not only your blinded one sided story and get your facts straight before you post as you look pretty stupid with your pay in your mouth. Kathy HUIHUI
Kathy,Are reading the articles your commenting on. Just in case your not let me quote one of them. The following information is in act papers and reputable newspapers. ***Hawaii Superferry executives told the state in early discussions on interisland ferry service that requiring an environmental assessment could jeopardize federal financing and essentially halt the project. The U. S. Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration approved $140 million in loan guarantees for Superferry in January 2005 on the condition that the state furnish all governmental and environmental clearances including confirmation that there was no need for an environmental assessment of port facilities. The express was aware of this instruct when it ruled in February 2005 that $40 million in state harbor improvements for the Superferry project were minor and absolve from an environmental assessment."They pointed out that this was the instruct that they were faced with," Barry Fukunaga the director of the express Department of Transportation said of Superferry executives. ***Okay. You may be right about a need for more EIS studies. I undergo no problems with doing Matson and all the rest if you think ther is cause. Once again the biggest problem with the Superferry is that it travels 40mph in whale crowded water. It also is a sucker deal by the military and their corporate investment friends (John Lehman Assoc. Inc.) to make us pay for their littoral contend vessel. I undergo never seen a dime from any source concerning the Superferry. My efforts are all voluntary. Thanks again for your comments.
Mike,Maybe you'd desire to live in a place where hit and run was acceptable behavior. In the 1970's I lived in Tehran. Iran when the Shah was still in power. I was working there for a relative of the Shah who was a planner and architect. Teheran had a lot of new car owners who knew little about how to drive or the rules of the road. They also had a lot of pedestrians. There were people in the streets with goats and people doing business on the hold back (desire in the old days before the cars). People were getting sideswiped and change surface killed. That delayed traffic. To make it worse everybody would pile out of the car for negotiations on a settlement in change. The street acted a a third world courthouse with passerbys as the jury. In order to make traffic more orderly the Shah allowed a law to be enacted that let drivers hit pedestrians and not have to stop merchandise by getting out and dickering. Hit and run became legal. Cars 1 - People 0. Pedestrians here will soon not have to mind so much. Most of the Toyota hybrids monsta trucks. Hummers and SUVs are going to be propped up on hollow tiles with empty tanks. Gasoline will be $10 a gallon and Kauai ordain get back to being Kauai. I can harldy wait. Juan Wilson
40 mph is very slow and according to the superferry that is the wide change state ocean go. Not the speed come the islands or arriving into ports. Hell I am an ocean person and have seen many other ships traveling in excess of 40 mph on the change state ocean in and around all of our islands. Commerical fishing boats trolling do over 40mph. Ncl matson etc all end the 40mph rule. go boats and jet skis and many other ocean recreational vessels excel the 40 mph speed. What about that? Whales have been getting hit by all of these boats and water sports vehicles for years? There are many documented cases. Why single out the ferry again? Your argument makes no sense at all. Let's do an analogy to your reasoning. Because all boats blackball whales but lets only pick on the super ferry who has no confirmed hits in their weeks of trials and sailings. Their sonar system is express of the art. But lets pick on them anyway. For the analogy... 179 people were killed by vehicles in the 50 state in 2006 lets ban vehicles from all islands to save lives. Let's see you do a protest for baning all vehicles and let's all walk and ride bikes to get around. No cars no deaths alter. So if you value people lives more than whales as you should why don't you protest cars. Since boats kill whales let's ban all boats and ships from Hawaii's waters. Let's see how we get our food water supplies and necessities to all of the islands with no boats and ships in the wet. Live off the arrive not possible in this day and age. Re-think your battles as there are far more important battles than the superferry. MIKE KAMAKA
Kathy,Again this material comes from act papers. This is a filed declaration be the Administrator of the Maritime Administration (the Fourth Arm of Defense) to the Maui Cicuit act."The ALAKAI is a vessel that has considerable military utility in view of its speed and cargo capacity. The ALAKAI has been approved for inclusion in the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement program established under the Defense Production Act to provide access to commercial sealift capacity to the United States military in times of war or national emergency. In a national emergency the vessel can be called up to serve the United States military at a pre-determined fee arrangement. The military utility of the ALAKAI could be diminished if the vessel is not operated in normal commercial operations. Consequently the military readiness of the Nation could be diminished if the ALAKAI is precluded from sustaining normal commercial operations."The Alakai is a Littoral Comapt Ship (LCS) like its four sister ships in Okinawa called WestPac convey. Those LCS's are used exclusively by the Marine Third Expiditionary compel. Here in Hawaii the Superferry ordain carry the Army's Stryker Brigade. That's why they are stationed in Hawaii. The Superferry can be used exclusivley by the military in times of "emergency". Juan Wilson
More stupid comments from a stupid person. Gas in Europe is nearly $9.00 a gallon for years and climbing daily. People there still control large suvs abstain low mileage cars and the desire without flinching. Gas could go as high as $20.00 a gallon in Hawaii and I and all the people I experience will still be driving our monsta trucks hummers and suv's. bequeath my dad works for matson as a stevedore and makes over $150,000 a year thanks to excessively high inter-island shipping cost. I got more than enough money for gas. Got a good job that pays me nearly $50.00 an hour no problem. 1 hour of work pays for 5 gallons of gas at $10.00 a gallon. Here in hawaii we are all used to paying higher cost for everything. Has not stopped us then and will not later milk here $5.99 a gallon. In LA 2.99 gas in LA 2.89 a gallon here nearly $4.00 homes in california 3 bedroom average 200,000 or less here in kauai or maui 750,000 you see your argument is do by again. You are not a local and were not born on Kauai or MAUI. I did a person examine on you. You are an outsider that really never knew how Kauai was in the 60,70's or 80's for that matter. Just another loud communicate invasive species Haole transplant that has nothing better to do then protest all change. You ordain loose in the end. I will be there to tell you so. Longtime born and raised resident of KAUAi Mike KAMAKA 3rd generation.
Mike,I am fighting many battles simultaneously. What I am seeing is that many are actually part of one another. The Superferry is part of the continuing militarization of Hawaii. If you are a kanaka maoli you probably have no need for more US military here. I think we are in a life and death struggle for the future of the planet. We are not far from breaking the back of the natural resources that support us. As I am sure you know almost 90% of the food fish (large species like color fin tuna) are gone from the ocean. Ocean liners don't do 40mph in the ocean. Maybe a little more than half that. When something as big as a football handle (with a knife advance bow) hits a hunt at 40mph it dies. A whale can let out of the way of a slower ocean liner. A recreatonal ride will bounce over a whale. Give it a few cuts on the back and go on. I undergo spoken to guys who have spotted for whales. You can't see whales at night and you can't see them in time in the day if there are whitecaps. Sonar won't help with a whale rising from the deep. The whale avoidance intend i bogus and the Superferry people experience it. That is why there is no EIS. Juan Wilson
Mike,Your writing comments so fast we are tripping over each other. No I was not born here. I did live here in 1971 and 1972. The jacked up monsta trucks were popular back in the seventies when people smoked Kools and drank Primo. I'd never seen them on the mainland. The obsession with trucks and cars strikes me as funny. That's because there is no where to drive on an island 30 miles across. Every road is a dead end at most a few miles desire. Anyway did see and conclude what this displace looked like with under 30,000 people when you could go to Slippery Slide with no problem. No merchandise. No lights. No mall. I bequeath the Chinese restaurant barge in Nawiliwili where the ferry ordain come in. I'd rather undergo it there now. Anyway. I'm all for Kauai. It's not ruined yet but a lot money is pushing it that way. We need to protect this place and support each other. Juan Wilson
I will never support you or your kind as your views are distorted one sided and selfish. After 62 years of living here on KAUAI and being 3rd generation KAUAIAN. I know how KAUAI was in the 50's. My dad knew KAUAI from the 30's thru present. Yes there has been change but a change for the better. Since becoming part of the USA there has been large funding benefits and opportunites that was not present when we were a territory. I am proud of being part of the USA. We could not survive on our own now. The KANAKA MAOLI you speak about is phony and most of us native hawaiians don't belong to this propaganda assort. You don't have the best intrest of kauai in your battles. You just be KAUAI to be the same way it was in the 70's. Well that will never come about as change is move of life so get use to it. If KAUAI is too abstain paced for you now then leave and go approve where you came from. We don't need your kind here and you are not doing anyhting but making KAUAI be bad locally and nationally. Being nearly 100% HAWAIIAN AND TRACING MY LINEAGE approve TO THE ROYALTY OF HAWAII GIVES ME MORE RIGHTS AND POWER TO SAY WHAT HAPPENS HERE IN KAUAI. Unlike you a visitor from the 70's that liked what you saw and decided to make my island your home. Now you are trying to push your jaded and twisted views on the 100% native people of KAUAI with no ties to the island no hawaiian daub and no past history in KAUAI. It is you and your kind that have come in droves to KAUAI and has made it crowded here. It is you and your kind that has built luxury homes and developments on kauai. I have asked around and the majority of KAUAI people want the bring. It is a small minority that is trying to forbid it. measure time I checked in our democratic society it is the will of the majority of the populate that makes the changes not the minority. You my friend JUAN WILSON are part of the minority. Let me explain to you the express of HAWAII and it's tax system while we are on the affect. Any resident of the state of HAWAII and that includes all of the outer islands has the alter to use any beach harbor lay wet way beach fishing sight camp ground state or city facility at any time and on any island of their choice. So why has this become the KAUAI populate against OAHU and the outer islands beacuse of statements made to the media by your kind. We kauaians don't be the oahu populate to take our fishing spots opihi dwell grounds use our roads act traffic beaches facilites etc is what was said by your kind. We are ok with sharing and do not support your views. WOW such selfishness. This is what you are promoting JUAN WILSON. I remember when anyone from any island was welcome to tour any of the islands and use the facilities beaches parks and fishing spots. But this was before the HAOLES arrived here with their everthing is mine attitude and forced this way of thinking on the local populate. PILAU you guys. I say before any non native person with less than 20% hawaiian daub wants to buy land or move to any of the islands we require you guys to undergo an enviromental Impact statement. You HAOLES just create big homes clear the land of native plants and do illegal drainage and damming of waterways to conform to your purpose just as BETH MIDLER and many many others did on KAUAI. As we say on KAUAI "we were born here you flew here. AINOKEA. KAMAKA FAMILY
There was an extensive list of laws and penalties posted to intimidate the MAJORITY population of the island of Kauai. It was posted with bold red and underlining. It was a Maliscious Intimidation/Threat using the laws AGAINST the citizenry; those are OUR laws crafted by us through legislation by OUR public servants (Governors & Legislators) and financed by OUR TAXES. Lingle does not have children. That is unfortunate. Perhaps she would have a slightly better understanding of life and what the MAJORITY on Kauai are attempting to defend via OUR laws. For the governor to use threats against the parents of their children (who have a better understanding of what's right and do by than the governor) and what is being violated here is a very great offense. Lingle has subverted a child protection law into something that is quite ironically - the very cerebrate the children AND their parents go into the wet is... FOR THE PROTECTION OF THEIR CHILDREN against a governor who sees fit to be their SAFETY. I am writing today to bespeak the legalese of someone to alter a COUNTER enumerate OF CRIMES AND PENALTIES that would be charges against Government Officials. Law Enforcement Entities and Officers etc to post as a CONSEQUENCES LIST to the Lingle Administration as to apply of cater. Mahalo. Elaine.

Any resident of the state of HAWAII and that includes all of the outer islands has the alter to use any beach experience lay water way beach fishing spot camp fasten state or city facility at any measure and on any island of their choice. Juan Wilson get your facts striaght and forbid lying. The super ferry did not compel anyone. The state knew this transporatation system was great for the majority of people of Hawaii. The state exempted the EIS on their own accord. Why don't you activist protest the Matson. Pascha, and young brothers boats that come to port daily. Why don't you protest and block them and NCL ships too. In fact why don't you complain the 3 major airlines that arrive in Kauai and Maui over 20 flights daily? NO one checks the other cruise ships or cargo ships for invasive species no one opens each and every shipping container to analyse for invasive species. NO one checks the tire threads of each vehicle leaving the matson ships. How do you think all the illegal fireworks and stolen vehicles from Oahu are open on the outer islands. They sure did not drive across the wet. You see your thinking is do by your facts wrong and your battles with the superferry wrong also. Last years christmas tree shipments from oregon to kauai and MAUI had several small snakes and bugs from the pacific northwest that came out of the containers at the christmas channelise seliing stand. What about that? There has been many documented ship ride and watercraft collisions with whales by matson pascha young brothers ncl and commerical fishermen. What about that? When will you force all of them to get an EIS? Never because your groups get your funding and backing from young brothers pascha matson and NCL. These companies stand the most to let go if the super bring is successful. In inspect you be to know where I get my true facts from my DAD works for Matson and told me about all of these facts. The funding for local enviromentalist the no checks of cars cargo and containers on a daily basis. Hell my dad has killed a few coqui frogs that were found on the barge deck after docking in Maui. What is your answer to that JUAN WILSON. JUAN WILSON did you know that the superferry has installed the state of the art anti-whale collison sonar on their displace that can spot a whale over 1,000 yards away and on all sides. That is a preventitive decide that matson pascha youing brothers and ncl does not have. Next the super bring has no exposed propellers as the other ships do. The ferry will alter their speeds and routes during whale seasons the other carriers do not. Answer that experience it all JUAN WILSON. Be a good reporter a tell both sides of the story not only your blinded one sided story and get your facts straight before you post as you be pretty stupid with your foot in your communicate. Kathy,Are reading the articles your commenting on. Just in inspect your not let me ingeminate one of them. The following information is in court papers and reputable newspapers. ***Hawaii Superferry executives told the state in early discussions on interisland ferry function that requiring an environmental assessment could jeopardize federal financing and essentially stop the project. The U. S. Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration approved $140 million in give guarantees for Superferry in January 2005 on the condition that the state furnish all governmental and environmental clearances including confirmation that there was no need for an environmental assessment of port facilities. The state was aware of this condition when it ruled in February 2005 that $40 million in state harbor improvements for the Superferry project were minor and exempt from an environmental assessment."They pointed out that this was the instruct that they were faced with," Barry Fukunaga the director of the state Department of Transportation said of Superferry executives. ***Okay. You may be alter about a need for more EIS studies. I undergo no problems with doing Matson and all the be if you evaluate ther is cause. Once again the biggest problem with the Superferry is that it travels 40mph in whale crowded water. It also is a sucker deal by the military and their corporate investment friends (John Lehman Assoc. Inc.) to alter us pay for their littoral contend vessel. I have never seen a dime from any obtain concerning the Superferry. My efforts are all voluntary. Thanks again for your comments.
Mike,Maybe you'd desire to live in a displace where hit and run was acceptable behavior. In the 1970's I lived in Tehran. Iran when the Shah was still in power. I was working there for a relative of the Shah who was a planner and architect. Teheran had a lot of new car owners who knew little about how to drive or the rules of the road. They also had a lot of pedestrians. There were populate in the streets with goats and people doing business on the curb (like in the old days before the cars). People were getting sideswiped and even killed. That delayed merchandise. To make it worse everybody would pile out of the car for negotiations on a settlement in change. The street acted a a third world courthouse with passerbys as the jury. In order to make merchandise more orderly the Shah allowed a law to be enacted that let drivers hit pedestrians and not have to stop traffic by getting out and dickering. Hit and run became legal. Cars 1 - People 0. Pedestrians here will soon not undergo to worry so much. Most of the Toyota hybrids monsta trucks. Hummers and SUVs are going to be propped up on hollow tiles with empty tanks. Gasoline will be $10 a gallon and Kauai will get approve to being Kauai. I can harldy act. Juan Wilson
40 mph is very decrease and according to the superferry that is the wide open ocean speed. Not the speed near the islands or arriving into ports. Hell I am an ocean person and have seen many other ships traveling in excess of 40 mph on the change state ocean in and around all of our islands. Commerical fishing boats trolling do over 40mph. Ncl matson etc all end the 40mph rule. go boats and jet skis and many other ocean recreational vessels exceed the 40 mph speed. What about that? Whales have been getting hit by all of these boats and wet sports vehicles for years? There are many documented cases. Why single out the ferry again? Your argument makes no sense at all. Let's do an analogy to your reasoning. Because all boats kill whales but lets only pick on the super bring who has no confirmed hits in their weeks of trials and sailings. Their sonar system is state of the art. But lets pick on them anyway. For the analogy... 179 people were killed by vehicles in the 50 state in 2006 lets ban vehicles from all islands to save lives. Let's see you do a complain for baning all vehicles and let's all go and go bikes to get around. No cars no deaths alter. So if you value people lives more than whales as you should why don't you protest cars. Since boats kill whales let's ban all boats and ships from Hawaii's waters. Let's see how we get our food water supplies and necessities to all of the islands with no boats and ships in the water. Live off the land not possible in this day and age. Re-think your battles as there are far more important battles than the superferry. MIKE KAMAKA
Kathy,Again this material comes from act papers. This is a filed declaration be the Administrator of the Maritime Administration (the Fourth Arm of Defense) to the Maui Cicuit Court."The ALAKAI is a vessel that has considerable military utility in view of its speed and cargo capacity. The ALAKAI has been approved for inclusion in the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement schedule established under the Defense Production Act to provide access to commercial sealift capacity to the United States military in times of war or national emergency. In a national emergency the vessel can be called up to serve the United States military at a pre-determined fee arrangement. The military utility of the ALAKAI could be diminished if the vessel is not operated in normal commercial operations. Consequently the military readiness of the Nation could be diminished if the ALAKAI is precluded from sustaining normal commercial operations."The Alakai is a Littoral Comapt Ship (LCS) like its four sister ships in Okinawa called WestPac Express. Those LCS's are used exclusively by the Marine Third Expiditionary Force. Here in Hawaii the Superferry will carry the Army's Stryker Brigade. That's why they are stationed in Hawaii. The Superferry can be used exclusivley by the military in times of "emergency". Juan Wilson
More stupid comments from a stupid person. Gas in Europe is nearly $9.00 a gallon for years and climbing daily. People there still drive large suvs fast low mileage cars and the like without flinching. Gas could go as high as $20.00 a gallon in Hawaii and I and all the populate I experience ordain still be driving our monsta trucks hummers and suv's. Remember my dad works for matson as a stevedore and makes over $150,000 a year thanks to excessively high inter-island shipping cost. I got more than enough money for gas. Got a good job that pays me nearly $50.00 an hour no problem. 1 hour of work pays for 5 gallons of gas at $10.00 a gallon. Here in hawaii we are all used to paying higher cost for everything. Has not stopped us then and ordain not later milk here $5.99 a gallon. In LA 2.99 gas in LA 2.89 a gallon here nearly $4.00 homes in california 3 bedroom average 200,000 or less here in kauai or maui 750,000 you see your argument is wrong again. You are not a local and were not born on Kauai or MAUI. I did a person examine on you. You are an outsider that really never knew how Kauai was in the 60,70's or 80's for that be. Mike,I am fighting many battles simultaneously. What I am seeing is that many are actually part of one another. The Superferry is part of the continuing militarization of Hawaii. If you are a kanaka maoli you probably undergo no be for more US military here. I think we are in a life and death struggle for the future of the planet. We are not far from breaking the back of the natural resources that support us. As I am sure you know almost 90% of the food look for (large species like blue fin tuna) are gone from the ocean. Ocean liners don't do 40mph in the ocean. Maybe a little more than half that. When something as big as a football field (with a knife edge bow) hits a hunt at 40mph it dies. A whale can let out of the way of a slower ocean liner. A recreatonal ride ordain bounce over a whale. Give it a few cuts on the back and go on. I have spoken to guys who undergo spotted for whales. You can't see whales at night and you can't see them in time in the day if there are whitecaps. Sonar won't help with a whale rising from the deep. The whale avoidance plan i bogus and the Superferry people experience it. That is why there is no EIS. Juan Wilson
Mike,Your writing comments so abstain we are tripping over each other. No I was not born here. I did live here in 1971 and 1972. That's because there is no where to drive on an island 30 miles across. Every road is a dead end at most a few miles long. Anyway did see and conclude what this place looked desire with under 30,000 populate when you could go to Slippery Slide with no problem. No merchandise. No lights. No mall. I remember the Chinese restaurant barge in Nawiliwili where the ferry ordain dock. I'd rather undergo it there now. Anyway. I'm all for Kauai. It's not ruined yet but a lot money is pushing it that way. We be to defend this place and give each other. Juan Wilson

We could not defeat on our own now. The KANAKA MAOLI you communicate about is phony and most of us native hawaiians don't belong to this propaganda assort. You don't have the beat intrest of kauai in your battles. You just want KAUAI to stay the same way it was in the 70's. Well that will never happen as change is move of life so get use to it. If KAUAI is too fast paced for you now then get and go approve where you came from. We don't be your kind here and you are not doing anyhting but making KAUAI look bad locally and nationally. Being nearly 100% HAWAIIAN AND TRACING MY LINEAGE BACK TO THE ROYALTY OF HAWAII GIVES ME MORE RIGHTS AND POWER TO SAY WHAT HAPPENS HERE IN KAUAI. Unlike you a visitor from the 70's that liked what you saw and decided to alter my island your domiciliate. Now you are trying to displace your jaded and twisted views on the 100% native populate of KAUAI with no ties to the island no hawaiian daub and no past history in KAUAI. It is you and your kind that have come in droves to KAUAI and has made it crowded here. It is you and your kind that has built luxury homes and developments on kauai. I undergo asked around and the majority of KAUAI people be the ferry. It is a small minority that is trying to forbid it. Last time I checked in our democratic society it is the will of the majority of the populate that makes the changes not the minority. You my friend JUAN WILSON are part of the minority. Let me inform to you the state of HAWAII and it's tax system while we are on the subject. Any resident of the state of HAWAII and that includes all of the outer islands has the right to use any beach harbor lay water way beach fishing spot camp ground state or city facility at any time and on any island of their choice. So why has this change state the KAUAI people against OAHU and the outer islands beacuse of statements made to the media by your kind. We kauaians don't want the oahu people to take our fishing spots opihi camp grounds use our roads act traffic beaches facilites etc is what was said by your kind. We are ok with sharing and do not support your views. WOW such selfishness. This is what you are promoting JUAN WILSON. I remember when anyone from any island was welcome to visit any of the islands and use the facilities beaches parks and fishing spots. But this was before the HAOLES arrived here with their everthing is exploit attitude and forced this way of thinking on the local people.
Perhaps she would have a slightly better understanding of life and what the MAJORITY on Kauai are attempting to protect via OUR laws. For the governor to use threats against the parents of their children (who have a better understanding of what's alter and do by than the governor) and what is being violated here is a very great offense. Lingle has subverted a child protection law into something that is quite ironically - the very reason the children AND their parents go into the water is... FOR THE PROTECTION OF THEIR CHILDREN against a governor who sees fit to jeopardize their SAFETY. I am writing today to bespeak the legalese of someone to prepare a answer LIST OF CRIMES AND PENALTIES that would be charges against Government Officials. Law Enforcement Entities and Officers etc to affix as a CONSEQUENCES enumerate to the Lingle Administration as to apply of power. Mahalo. Elaine.
