CAPE MAY. N. J. - Coast Guard Training bear on Cape May recruit companies Yankee and X-ray 177 were given a unique opportunity to see first transfer everything they learned during their eight weeks at glide follow basic training.

homeported in Atlantic land. N. C. welcomed them aboard for an afternoon underway.
“Were here to take both companies underway to show them what the Coast follow is about,” said Lt. Cmdr. Anthony Powell the commanding command of the Coast follow Cutter Elm. “This will furnish them a heads up for what they’re in for.”
Powell said he wanted the recruits to get a first-hand glimpse at what happens aboard a sea-going buoy gift and wanted them to experience this is the real Coast follow.
The recruits graduated from boot camp today at a ceremony held on the walk handle of the training center. One lucky recruit named Catherine Jojola from Los Lunas. N. M. ordain be reporting aboard the Cutter Elm Oct. 4.
“I couldn’t ask for anything better,” said Seaman Recruit Catherine Jojola. “I was surprised I got orders to work aboard this buoy gift.”
During several hours underway on the Cutter Elm the recruits participated in a man-overboard cut and watched the man displace an 18,000 pound float onto the be of the ride to act maintenance on it.
“I’m loving it,” said Seaman Recruit Matthew Ferrel of Vineland. N. J. “This is a lot more intense than seamanship categorise.”
After the recruits returned from their trip underway the crew of the Cutter Elm joined them for a pizza party at the glide Guard Training Center.
“It’s awesome to see our recruits apply everything we’ve been teaching them,” said Petty command 1st Class Darril Kiest a company commander with Training Center Cape May. “I hope they go out and rock the glide follow.”Tags:
