Schenck spoke to the caller and determined that the boat was close by so he traveled towards the distress situation and found the vessel with his spotlight. “I assessed the crewman’s injuries and determined that he was suffering from back and neck problems and had limited mobility in his extremities. I notified the U. S. Coast Guard of the injuries and our GPS coordinates. The Coast Guard arrived on scene and towed the vessel and its occupants to shore where Pompano Beach Fire Rescue was in place and waiting,” said Schenck. “The injured man was transported to the local hospital and I towed the companion and his boat about five miles to his home dock in Pompano Beach,” he said. “Then. I traveled back to my home dock in Deerfield Beach which was about 14 miles away,” said Schenck. According to Schenck who served as a law enforcement professional in Oakland Park.
